Solar Photovoltaic Installer course

About the course

This course is aimed at qualified electricians who want to expand their knowledge and skills to include installation of Solar Photovoltaic Systems with up to 5kWp output.

Highly regarded within the renewable energy sector, this course is accredited by Logic Certification, and can be used to register under the microgeneration certification scheme (MCS).

  • Background to the market and grant funding routes (including MCS)
  • Regulations and standards
  • Health & safety considerations
  • AC & DC theory
  • Cell types and benefits
  • External and internal site survey requirements
  • Circuit design
  • System design and integration
  • Setting to work and commissioning
  • Servicing and fault finding

This course is not intended to cover roof or access work in detail but does cover the legislative requirements, risk assessment requirements and working at height requirements. Typically an experienced roofer would install the arrays although collectors will require connection at roof level by an electrician.

Multiple-choice examination and practical assessment.

Pre-requisites

17th Edition Wiring Regulations

Sound knowledge of the Building Regulations

Experience in the installation of domestic single phase circuits and issuing the appropriate documentation (electrical installation certificate, schedule of inspections and schedule of test results).
